Session begins

Additive Manufacturing (also known as 3D printing) is quickly moving into mainstream use across a wide range of industries and applications. The ability to produce parts from a digital model on demand can greatly reduce time waiting for replacement parts, castings and other long-lead time critical components - particularly associated with business interruption and extra expense. AM is also used to supplement existing manufacturing processes to enhance startup cost and delivery delays. These attributes of Additive Manufacturing are making it an attractive option when critical equipment breaks down and the wait time for obsolete parts is extensive. In this discussion, we will look at what Additive Manufacturing is, what you can do with it and pro's and con's of implementing this technology to help mitigate risk.
