As Risk Managers, do we identify the risk related to fire and flood?  These kind of events can be classified as negative, but we can turn them into a positive experience for the risk manager with the right decision making.  We should put an emphasis on the human factor in how we deal with adversity in challenging time.  Are we prepared for the unexpected?

It is estimated that up to 50% of businesses that close due to a disaster, such as fire and flood never reopen!  Of the businesses that survive, the overwhelming majority of them had a preparedness plan in place.  Someone had a clear understanding of how, when and where to act.  The risk is lack of good communication and confrontation of risk management solutions with reliable partners.
